DISCHARGING AND LOCKING WITH ROTARY VALVES
Components of a Rotary Valve:
Rotor: The pivotal, rotating part featuring pockets (compartments) that efficiently carry the material.
Housing: The stationary, robust outer body that securely encases the rotor.
Inlet and Outlet: Strategically designed openings for seamless material entry and exit.
Drive Mechanism: Typically an electric motor intricately connected to the rotor via a gearbox, ensuring smooth operation.
Working Principle:
Material Inlet:
The material to be controlled enters the valve through the inlet, optimally positioned at the top of the valve.
The rotor inside the valve housing features multiple pockets or compartments. As the rotor turns, these pockets pass directly under the inlet, ready to be filled.
Filling the Pockets:
The material seamlessly falls into the pockets due to gravity. Each pocket gets filled as it precisely aligns beneath the inlet.
Rotational Movement:
The drive mechanism propels the rotor's rotation. The speed of rotation is adjustable to meet the required material flow rate with precision.
As the rotor turns, the filled pockets are smoothly transported from the inlet towards the outlet.
Material Discharge:
Upon reaching the outlet, typically situated at the bottom of the valve, the material discharges efficiently due to gravity.
The now empty pockets continue their rotation back towards the inlet, ready to be refilled.
Sealing:
The rotary valve's design ensures an impeccable seal between the inlet and outlet, preventing any air or material leakage. This is crucial for maintaining a consistent flow and pressure.
Some rotary valves come equipped with additional sealing mechanisms, tailored to handle fine powders or ensure airtight operation.
