DIS­CHARG­ING AND LOCK­ING WITH RO­TARY VALVES

Components of a Rotary Valve:

Rotor: The heart of the rotary valve, this rotating component is equipped with pockets (compartments) designed to carry and control the flow of material with precision.
Housing: The robust stationary outer body that encases the rotor, providing essential structural support for the valve assembly.
Inlet and Outlet: Strategically placed openings that facilitate the seamless entry and exit of materials, optimizing flow and efficiency.
Drive Mechanism: Typically powered by an electric motor, this mechanism is connected to the rotor through a reliable gearbox, ensuring smooth and controlled rotor movement.

Working Principle:

Material Inlet:
The material to be precisely controlled enters through the inlet, strategically located at the top of the valve to maximize efficiency.
The rotor, housed within the valve, is engineered with multiple pockets or compartments. As it turns, these pockets pass beneath the inlet, ready to be filled.
Filling the Pockets:
Gravity plays its role as the material falls seamlessly into the rotor's pockets, each one getting filled as it moves directly beneath the inlet.
Rotational Movement:
The drive mechanism ensures the rotor turns smoothly. The rotor's speed is adjustable to meet the specific material flow rate requirements.
As the rotor continues its rotation, the filled pockets navigate from the inlet towards the outlet, ensuring a steady flow.
Material Discharge:
Upon reaching the outlet, typically located at the bottom of the valve, the material is effortlessly discharged by gravity, maintaining consistent flow.
The emptied pockets then return towards the inlet, ready for the next cycle of refilling.
Sealing:
The sophisticated design of the rotary valve guarantees an optimal seal between the inlet and outlet, preventing any air or material leakage. This is crucial for maintaining consistent flow and pressure.
Advanced rotary valves come with additional sealing mechanisms to handle fine powders or ensure airtight operation, enhancing their versatility.
